A few years ago on a bright sunny Father's Day, my wife surprised me with my very first Orchid. It was two, actually; they were both beautiful Dendrobium species. A general rule of thumb would be to transplant every two to tree years, or when the roots are growing around the pot continuously, and when your plant looks stressed as well as not drinking enough water even if watered often.
