Saving Dahlia Bulbs Over Winter

Question
Can the tubers (bulbs) from dahlias be saved over the Winter?

Answer
You can save them. The same process used to dig and store other dahlias applies. When the tops start to yellow after first frost dig them with you spading fork, loosen the soil and cut the tops off at 2"-3".Let them air dry .Store them upside down in peat moss or aspen pet bedding in a cool dry place till spring. There is an article I wrote in the garden section at www.zamzows.com about putting your bulbs(tubers) to bed. I hope this helps you out. Here is a link to the article about putting your bulbs to bed, click below.
