Tips for Laying Sod in the Fall

Question
Is it ok to lay sod in this the Fall? I plan on laying sod in October. What do you think?

Answer
The answer to your question really depends on the weather! I can say that I have seen newly build businesses laying down sod in the middle of February so I would say you will probably be fine. What you should be most concerned about is freezing temperatures. There are two things you should do to make sure you succeed. First, use a good fertilizer for the sod. Our Fall and Winter Recharger is perfect for applications like this one. Apply the fertilizer to the soil, and then roll out the sod. The other critical thing is to keep the sod as damp as possible. It froze this morning so the use of automated sprinkler systems is all but over. You can however, still use your hose to provide the moisture the sod will need.

In short, I think you will do just fine putting in the sod!!
