Tips for Treating Lawn Burn

Question
I have tried treating our lawn burn spots with the spot be gone treatment for dog urine. I water at least once a day, have fertilized and I do not seem to be noticing any re-growth of the grass. What is the next step in treating these burn spots?

Answer
Well I’m sorry to say that the grass is dead, and that happens now and then. Sometimes these things happen pretty quick. The next step would be to reseed or sod the dead areas.

First we want to rake out the dead areas in your lawn and expose the soil. I prefer to reseed over sod because it costs a lot less then sod. We want to place seed in the areas to be repaired at the rate of 1lb to 200 sq feet.

I then suggest you top dress the seed with some type of mulch, I prefer compost about an 1/8th of an inch thick to retain moisture to help the seed germinate. The seed I normally suggest would be our custom blend because it very hardy and is the best for our area.  We need to keep the areas we are repairing moist and within 10 days we should see the grass popping up.

Zamzows also offers lawn repair kits too. A kit will have seed, mulch, and a fertilizer so there is little more than raking the dead spots out, apply the product, and keep moist.  I hope this helped and if you have any other questions please call us,  that’s what we are here to do.
