Question

Answer
It really looks like slime flux disease, but that is kind of rare in a maple tree but I don’t know what else could cause it to seep like that. If it is slime flux disease there is no cure for it, slime flux is a bacteria that causes high pressure in the cambium and a real stinky sap starts to ooze out. Eventually it will kill the tree so we will want to be sure it is slime flux before you remove it. The easiest way will be in the spring when fly’s are out because they love the smell of the slime flux sap.
